Lynnfield Tree Committee

The Lynnfield Tree Committee is an advisory board to the Town's boards and commissions. The Committee is comprised of town residents who are interested in volunteering to enhance the town's ability to address environmental concerns, promote sustainable practices, and further the shared goals of conservation and education.

The Tree Committee's goals include the protection and restoration of Lynnfield's natural tree resources which provide shade and ornamentation to our streets, create habitats for wildlife, enhance property values, and provide natural privacy. The Tree Committee also seeks to educate the community about the environmental importance of Lynnfield's trees which provide cleaner air, decreased noise, climate control, and flood prevention. They also assist the Tree Warden in compliance with the Mass. Public Shade Tree Bylaw.

As a result of its work, the Committee has been designated as an Arbor Day Foundation Tree City and is a recipient of its prestigious Growth Award. Each year the Committee hosts the annual Arbor Day Celebration events. Moreover, the Committee has been instrumental in advancing for and successfully implementing local bylaws, such as the Scenic Roads Bylaw and the Tree Preservation Bylaw, both of which play an important role in preserving the natural beauty of Lynnfield and promoting responsible tree management.

The Committee connects with the public with various tree-related activities, including tree planting, educational programs, public exhibits, information booths, and a digital media presence.
