Owls Up Close - A Live Owl Presentation

The Lynnfield Tree Committee and the Lynnfield Public Library invite you to go wild with us! New England’s favorite wildlife program is coming to Lynnfield on Friday, April 25th at the Public Library, 18 Summer Street.

This program, geared for adults and children aged six and older, will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. including time for questions.

“Owls Up Close” is your opportunity to connect the owls’ many night sounds with the creatures making all the noise. Experience the wonder of owls and meet six live owls up close and personal. This unique program starts with an interactive slideshow featuring superb owl photography and ends with hooting lessons.

Marcia and Mark Wilson have thrilled audiences of all ages with this program for over 30 years. Marcia will bring out the owls one by one safely perched on her glove as she provides intimate views of these secretive birds of prey. Mark, a well known wildlife photojournalist and nature educator, will highlight our local owls’ unique adaptations, habitats and behaviors in the wild, while sharing tips on how you can listen for and help protect owls yourself.

Mark will have his award winning book, Owling: Enter the World of the Mysterious Birds of the Night, chosen by the American Association for the Advancement of Science as 2020’s Best Science Book for Middle Grade Schools, and The Snowy Owl Scientist available to purchase. Both books are $20 and can be signed and personalized by the author.

Do not miss this free event made possible with funds from the Friends of the Lynnfield Public Library and the Lynnfield Conservation Commission on Arbor Day.
